Montecito

Full of mystique and grandeur, history and beauty, Montecito, approximately eight square miles of hidden neighborhoods and expansive estates, has been the destination of choice for over one hundred years. It’s no wonder that Travel + Leisure named Montecito one of “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2019.” Located a couple miles east of Santa Barbara, “Montecito”, which is Spanish for “little mountain”, first received attention from wealthy Easterners and Midwesterners, in the late 1800’s. These early settlers developed large and lavish estates. Today, Montecito offers varied options for residential living, such as an easy-care condominium just steps from the beach, a hidden cottage set on a tree-shaded lane, as well as large estates on many acres, both old and new. Montecito is home to some of the area’s most stunning stretches of coastline, from Fernald’s Point, past the calm waters of Miramar Beach and renowned surf break at Hammonds Point, to sparkling Butterfly Beach. The pace of life here is unhurried, and it is easy to see why Montecito has become a desirable home for many.
