Full of mystique and grandeur, history and beauty, Montecito, approximately eight square miles of hidden neighborhoods and expansive estates, has been the destination of choice for over one hundred years. It’s no wonder that Travel + Leisure named Montecito one of “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2019.” Located a couple miles east of Santa Barbara, “Montecito”, which is Spanish for “little mountain”, first received attention from wealthy Easterners and Midwesterners, in the late 1800’s. These early settlers developed large and lavish estates.
